Many people in America don't have good parents that will take care of them, many children have criminal parents, those people sitting in jail often have kids or will eventually, and many neglect them. I have extended relatives in this situation that I've had to report for child abuse, so sometimes we need public programs to help people that have no other support and don't have the education resources to learn much better for themselves. It seems you just like to say it is "socialist" so you can bring out the old communist fears. You don't have to be scared of the government Patrick. Be scared of the neighbors who are going to try to rape your kids and give them drugs at school and at their houses when your kids are there unsupervised.
