God Forgive Our Greed: A Call to National Repentance

-By Patrick Burwell

“In sorrowful remembrance of our own faults and crimes as a nation and as individuals, to humble ourselves before Him, and to pray for His mercy”

We can all see now, and will feel for decades to come, the results of this government’s attempts to specifically legislate, in a socialist manner, our free market economy. We are seeing the gross response of the unfettered greed of a nation that has turned its back on our task of freedom. Socialism and the Free Market are diametrically opposed in their core philosophies and tenets. We are seeing the results, right now, of a bipartisan construct intended to create a socialist infrastructure whose sole aim is to engender this wanton interdependence in those who formerly held individual independence as sacrosanct above personal want or need.

Sadly,  Alexander De-Tocqueville was right, our nation has indeed, in our national concupiscence, found through corrupt politicians the means to vote ourselves monies we have not earned nor deserved. And now we are shocked to see our leaders are merely responding in kind? They represent the response of our conscience. We are responsible for their behaviors.

Repent America.

There is no other means for our national salvation but a day in which we must all repent, “in sorrowful remembrance of our own faults and crimes as a nation and as individuals, to humble ourselves before Him, and to pray for His mercy, — to pray that we may be spared further punishment, though most justly deserved.”*

President Lincoln established the National Day of Prayer and Humiliation, not coincidentally this upcoming last Thursday of September, 1 week from now, for a means not corporately agreed to in our nation at the time he began this tradition. But we do indeed now need, as a people, to embrace this day of repentance, nationally, in order to ask Almighty God for His Forgiveness of our sins against Him. We need to look to one another and plead for each other’s mercy as well for our covetousness and callous disregard of one another’s livelihood. Our freedom will not survive if we now we refuse our national humility. We will utterly fail our mission and find ourselves at the mercy of the antiChrists if we will not now turn from our wickedness.

Repent with me America, each of us, all of us. We have been given no other choice. No other option will be offered by God, only Jesus can save us.

God save our land and our people.

The National Day of Prayer and Humiliation will fall this year on September 25th.

I welcome your responses.
